Mattress Works Business Plan Proving Advantageous for Customers and Operating Partners
"As Mattress Works completes 2007 and our initial brand launch, we are already seeing significant advantages of the business model, proving beneficial for our operating partners and their customers, and boding well for our expansion plans in 2008," said David Karr, CEO of Mattress Works. "For instance, sales-per-advertising ratios and sales per square foot have already beaten the industry norms, proving the advantages of our Wal-Mart Supercenter locations, and reinforcing the product and service mix of our business plan."
Additionally, Mattress Works customers continue to exhibit high levels of satisfaction with the company’s extension of Wal-Mart’s "every day low price" concept, reflecting the ‘no hassle’ value pricing on all Mattress Works products and service packages. The Mattress Works product assortments include velocity price points between $299 and $1,299, including two memory foam mattress options. Services include layaway and financing, home delivery, removal of old mattresses and set-up of new purchases.
"We are finding that Wal-Mart customers truly appreciate the company’s commitment to afford able pricing, and that same cost appreciation has extended into the Mattress Works business," stated Edwin Shoffner, COO of Mattress Works. "Not only are we seeing positive results in the frequency of customer touches, but also the increasing number of repeat customer visits shows that the Mattress Works brand and services are valued by Wal-Mart shoppers."
Much of the success that the Mattress Works business model has already experienced can be attributed to the highly qualified operating partners and talented individuals who make up their sales teams. With a high volume of Wal-Mart shoppers each week, sales individuals continually encounter potential customers, increasing the likelihood of sales and promoting a competitive edge for those who wish to reach as many Wal-Mart shoppers as possible. "Unlike many bedding shops, where a sales associate may spend hours without encountering a potential customer, with our Wal-Mart locations, Mattress Works teams are continually engaging customers throughout all day-parts; it’s an amazing advantage," Karr emphasized.
