Are Organic Mattresses Really Green?

If you mean their color, of course not, but retailers are finding them extremely “green” in terms of profit centers, according to Organic Mattresses, Inc. (OMI).

At a time when retailers are challenged to meet last year’s sales, the organic mattress niche is a welcome oasis.

Today the awareness to live green is worldwide and growing every day. Organic food and beverage sales have been growing by 20% a year for the past seven years. Now these consumers are focusing on their bedrooms.

Carrying an organic mattress line gives retailers an opportunity to attract another group of customers who place wellness, as well as comfort, high on their list of mattress purchase criteria. In fact, these products have become a point of social and environmental responsibility for many corporations.

“Green consumers” are sophisticated, and are likely to demand a mattress from a reputable organic mattress manufacturer. Because of this new awareness, “green” or “eco-friendly” mattress lines are popping up all over the place, and you can expect to see more “greenwashing” in the future. You can expect green consumers to ask questions. “Is this mattress made in the US?” “Are the materials from organic farmers?” “Does the factory make organic mattresses exclusively, and are there any third-party certifications of purity?”

OMI uses US grown organic cotton and wool and 100% natural rubber latex or innersprings also made in the US. They do not use synthetic raw materials or chemical fire-retardant additives and they do meet Federal Flammability Statutes 1632 and 1633. Plus, OMI mattresses are manufactured in a totally chemical-free production environment where absolutely no conventional/chemical mattresses are made. They even have independent third-party certifications to attest to their low volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions.

At a time when we are all exposed to a myriad of chemicals every day of our lives, OMI is providing consumers with comfortable mattresses that also help them to get chemicals out of one-third of their lives.

OMI can be seen in Space A-100 (In the Brownstone showroom) during the Las Vegas Market or call (800) 951-9196.
