We at BEDROOM are always interested in reporting on new developments, applications and designs for mattress/bedding solutions. We are especially interested in a product that could herald a whole new technology or paradigm to the sleep industry as visco-elastic memory foam, airbeds and latex foam rubber beds. Gel bed technology has been around for a while now. This editor first saw the Intelli-Gel® honey-comb, box-column type product in the latter ‘90’s in Vegas at a combined SSA/futon show in Las Vegas. We’ve since seen some variation of that theme in ISPA shows and in a few manufacturers’ showrooms as well as gel pads, and what we call gel plugs in visco-elastic type foam. Companies such as Simmons, Dormia, and Kaymed have all introduced different approaches to the gel bed technology. Now the West Coast-based private, family owned Wickline Bedding, who first invented the “No-Turn” mattress and the Sleep therapy line, has partnered up with a company called Gel Logic to offer retailers and consumers their new Gel Logic Eco-Friendly mattress.
