Park Place Acquired United Sleep Products, Restores Business and Establishes a Northeastern Presence
On May 24th, Park Place Corporation and Northlight Capital announced the signing of a binding letter of intent for Park Place to acquire United Sleep Products. Park Place announced that they intend to operate the Denver, PA factory, serving existing United Sleep Products customers from this facility. On June 6th, Jimmy Orders, President of Park Place Corporation, sent out a letter to all United Sleep products customers, informing them that on Monday, June 11th. Park Place would "be open for business in Denver, Pennsylvania, and that John Katerenchuk, who has a six-year history with United Sleep would be the general manager." Discussing the strategy in acquiring United Sleep’s assets, Orders stated, "The location of this facility expands our footprint into the northeastern U.S. market enhancing our ability to serve the east coast. We intend to move quickly to restore service levels to existing customers and return the company to a normal operating mode. We see this as a long term commitment to the customers and associates in this region." Orders further explained to BEDROOM magazine the Park Place strategy. "United Sleep is a company historically offering quality sleep products at a ‘popular price point.’ We intend to cater to existing customers for the foreseeable future." Orders noted that Park Place’s Pennsylvania plant would begin accepting orders the first week of June for production beginning the week of June 11th. Orders further stated, "As we indicated in our press release, our primary focus will be on restoring normal business operations at the Pennsylvania plant as quickly as possible for both the associates and customers. We will create as much continuity in products, programs and operations as possible, and we will operate the company with a long term focus, continuing Park Place’s 76-year history of success." Expressing confidence during an interview, Orders told BEDROOM Magazine, "At this time (early June), I am very pleased with what has transpired, and we appreciate the hard work, cooperation and assistance former United Sleep Products associates have given us up to this point. Given a little time and effort, we will not only restore this Pennsylvania plant to previously successful operation levels, but we will build this into a complementary business to our southern footprint." Park Place Corporation, founded in 1931 as Orders Mattress Company, is a state of the art facility in Greenville, South Carolina sitting on a 40-acre campus. Park Place manufactures mattresses primarily under the Park Place and Comfortaire brands (www.parkplacecorp.com). Founded during the throes of the Great Depression, the company continues to operate under the direction of three third-generation members of the Orders family. According to President Jimmy Orders, "Through the years we have witnessed many changes, but one thing that has not changed is our dedication to quality in our products and integrity in standing behind them. Without this policy, we could not have survived since 1931." For more information: call (800) 767-3377 or visit www.parkplacecorp.com E-Mail: jborders@parkplacecorp.com |
