Sunset International Trade Introduces A Full Line of
Performance Mattresses at High Point and Las Vegas
Markets

While some mattress and specialty sleep manufacturers
expressed concern that retail buyer traffic was off at
the spring market in High Point, NC, Sunset
International the U.S. division of Turkish furniture
giant Istikbal® reported that they experienced a high
level of traffic to their showroom and a lot of dealer
interest in their new line of performance mattresses
introduced this past spring. Ali Yeker, Sunset
International’s National Accounts Manager informed
BEDROOM Magazine that Sunset had shown the company’s new
bedding line for the first time at the High Point market
to get dealer feedback. “We had a tremendous response
from the dealers who came to our showroom,” says Yeker.
According to Mehmet Y. Bilici, President of the
Paterson, NJ based Sunset International Trade L.C.C.,
and Richard Brodlieb, Sales and Marketing Director, the
company provides the U.S. presence for Istikbal® which
has over $1.5 billion in sales and is part of the
Turkish Industrial Group. Istikbal owns 2000 home
furnishing retail stores in Turkey and also owns stores
in 73 countries around the globe. The company produces
6,000 mattresses and 5,000 click-clack sofa beds a day.
Any retailer doing business with Sunset International
will in fact be working with a company that is part of a
large, well-established worldwide organization that
offers vertically integrated manufacturing with an
excellent record of quality control in production (ISO
Certified 9001:2000).
Sunset has been pleased with the reception of the
bedding collection launched the second half of 2005. For
the first time at the October 2005 High Point Market the
company presented the product line with price points
ranging from $299 to $999. In July 2006, at the Las
Vegas Market, Sunset will be introducing the Biopedic,
which offers the customer a Hi Profile 12 ¾ gauge, full
foam encased unit. The Biopedic features a combination
of 2.5” Hi Resiliency foam and 3” of Visco Memory foam.
This combination is designed to ensure full orthopedic
support for those who prefer a firm mattress while the
top visco-elastic foam layer conforms softly to every
curve of the customer’s body. This bed also features a
plush, stylish quilting layer with a quality, heavy
weight, cotton-poly knit ticking.
The Sunset Plush offers a very unique and equally
appealing product for retailers and consumers alike. “We
like to say that the Sunset Plush offers the consumer,
‘Real Relaxation’ ”, says Bilici. “The Sunset Plush
allows you to leave your tiring day behind, and get a
great sleep, night, after night, after night.” Designed
for ultimate sleeping comfort, the Sunset Plush offers
plush luxury quilting that houses layers of flame
retardant Flaret treated foam along with a durable high
carbon steel Bonel coil and a foam encasement system.
The Sunset Plush Mattress is designed to evenly
distribute the consumers weight throughout the mattress
providing total mattress support throughout the night
for uninterrupted sleep.
In addition to the Biopedic bed and the Sunset Plush,
Sunset International has introduced the Viscolex
visco-elastic foam mattress; the Serene Pocketpedic; the
semi-soft Metromatt with high quality jacquard look
ticking; the plush, full support Duraform mattress; the
full orthopedic support Neptune mattress and the soft
orthopedic Standard Mattress, along with the existing
ALIZE high rise and the Omega Folding Bed.
The company stocks a full line of product at their
300,000 square foot distribution center in New Jersey,
where it is available for immediate shipment to dealers.
The bedding program has exceeded all projections, and
within the next six months manufacturing is expected to
begin in the United States.
