Serta Joins The Bedding Center In High Point

Serta to Show New Five Star Mattress Line

Merchandise Mart Properties, Inc. (MMPI) has announced that Serta, the third largest bedding manufacturer in the country, will exhibit in The Bedding Center in Plaza Suites for the Spring 2008 High Point Market. Serta will show its new Five Star Mattress line, which was launched to focus on the promotional and middle price points.

The Bedding Center was first launched at the Spring 2007 High Point Market by MMPI and was then expanded and relocated to the first floor of Plaza Suites for the past Fall Market. It began with 15,000 square feet in its first market, and it has since expanded to 25,000 square feet, which was completely sold out with a waiting list last market. Serta’s 2000 square foot space in The Bedding Center will signify the company’s return to this Market after exiting High Point many years ago.

“The response has been overwhelming,” said Julie Messner, director of leasing, MMPI High Point, “but we are not surprised, since this is such an important category. We knew from our research that buyers coming to High Point Market wanted more opportunities to shop bedding while here, so we created The Bedding Center to respond to that need.”

Other companies already signed up for the Bedding Center for April’s market are Alfa Airbeds, Arason Enterprises, Inc., Carolina Mattress Guild, Hickory Springs, Joya Sleep Systems by Garme, Magniflex, of Itlay, Spaldin of Spain, Sunset International, and Therapedic.

“Having the number three bedding manufacturer in the nation join The Bedding Center further validates the significance of this initiative,” said Messner. “We set out to bring bedding back to High Point, and it’s happening. Adding Serta to the product mix is going to be of great value to buyers.”
