Kluft Introduces the Finest American-Made Mattress Available

Limited Edition, Made-to-Order, Hand-Sewn Bed Replete with

Cashmere, Silk, Wool, Horsehair, Organic Cotton, Natural Latex

March 19, 2010 - Earl Kluft , the visionary creative entrepreneur who is the founder and owner of E. S. Kluft & Co., is absolutely right in asking why should affluent Americans, who can afford ultra-premium sleep systems have to purchase these mattresses from European sources? Why not American made with the very top in craftsmanship and materials? This maker of the most elegantly tailored, ultra-luxurious beds has recently brought luxury bedding to a whole new level with the introduction of “The Beyond Luxury Sublime.” The limited edition, made-to-order beds retail at $44,000 for a king set, making it the most expensive American-made mattress available in the market today. Hand-sewn by skilled artisans using the finest materials such as cashmere, silk, exotic wools, horsehair, certified organic cotton and Talaly latex, the Sublime provides an unparalleled night of restful and refreshing sleep.

The Sublime has been launched as one of E. S. Kluft’s most exclusive bedding lines and will be available only in a limited edition of 100.

“There are a handful of luxury mattresses all coming from Europe,” said E. S. Kluft & Co. CEO and President Earl Kluft. “A growing number of affluent customers would prefer to buy sleep products in America made by American craftsmen. As the luxury market begins to come back, an increasing number of consumers are willing to pay more for a better sleep experience.”

Distinguished by an oversized Wedgwood blue medallion centered on the sleep surface, the “tissue pick” motif emanates a presidential suite and an air of royalty. The tissue pick process was used to create the highest concentration of color on the face of the fabric, allowing for a striking contrast to the cream-colored Jacquard Damask background.

“You almost never see tissue pick in mattress construction,” said Kluft. “Most tissue pick designs are used on wing-backed chairs or ornate drapery in a formal setting.”

Hand-made by skilled artisans, the Sublime combines extraordinary craftsmanship with the finest materials and most elegant techniques. The sleep surface is a luxurious blend of cashmere, silk and Merino wool adorned with a richly colored blue central motif. Underneath, there are abundant layers of natural Talalay latex that conform to body contours to eliminate pressure points all nestled together with breathable certified organic cotton and New Zealand Joma wool. The latter materials help prevent heat and moisture buildup assuring unmatched comfort. Next, a thick layer of Danish horsehair is placed atop thousands of premium hand-sewn English springs encased in calico cotton to minimize motion transfer and to provide extraordinary support.

Each mattress is hand-tufted using extra gussets and hand-side-stitched to secure the inner layers of upholstery and enhance the overall performance from edge-to-edge. Triple-sewn, quilted, monogrammed handles match the top layer motif for unmatched detail.

The hardwood divan-style foundation is upholstered in suede and contains individually wrapped coils over natural jute lacing. Unlike traditional foundations that run head to foot, the Sublime comes in two pieces with the connection running side-to-side and features 12 antique brass Shepherd Caster wheels.

The result is the best of Old World craftsmanship and sophisticated new sleep technologies. The suggested MSRP is $40,000 for a queen set. “The Sublime provides the optimum sleep experience, achieving a level of quality, luxury and excellence that is the ultimate in luxury,” said Kluft.
