Glideaway Introduces
Mattress Designed
Specifically for
Children
Different Foam Density is More
Responsive to a Child’s Body
March 15,
2010 -
Glideaway® Sleep Products recently introduced an
innovative youth mattress which raises the bar on
juvenile bedding. Where most children’s beds are
pint-sized versions of adult mattresses, the Jubilee is
designed specifically for children. The use of a
different foam density, 3 pound memory foam instead of
the industry standard 5 pound, makes the Jubilee more
responsive to a child’s body.
“With the
Jubilee our research and development team specifically
designed a mattress for children from the ground up,”
said Glideaway President Carmi Fredman. “Kids are
smaller than adults and need a mattress construction
better geared to their size and weight. We use memory
foam that is less dense and this provides more support
and comfort because the child’s body conforms to the
mattress. We’ve even made the mattress fun by adding a
pink or blue cover. Kids are actually excited to go to
bed!”
Doctor’s say
that children need adequate amounts of sleep to allow
their bodies time to recharge. Research shows that
children who get a good night’s sleep are healthier and
pay attention better in school. Available in either pink
or blue velour, each Jubilee mattress comes with a
matching pillow and retails for $399.
When
selecting the right bed for a child, there are several
important factors to consider. Compared to
mattresses designed for adults, most foam bedding for
kids doesn’t address the body map of where a child lays
on the bed. Children also require a foam that is
less dense in order to be more responsive to their
lighter weight. Jubilee addresses both of these
concerns.
